Advanced Style, a blog by photographer & filmmaker Ari Seth Cohen, is a testament to older age, creativity, and of course, personal style. The blog showcases some of New York City’s most fashion-forward (and in my opinion, artistic) older adults: a mélange of creatives, eccentrics and fashionistas.
I applaud Cohen’s efforts to challenge traditional (and often antiquated) attitudes about aging; as a student of gerontology, I am invariably a huge fan.
“My eyes have always been drawn to older people. And from a style point of view, I find them more interesting because they are of an age where they don’t have to impress anyone and can wear what they want.” -Cohen(New York Times, Respect Your Elders, 12 March 2010)
